Imogen Hassall is sometimes referred to as “The Countess of Cleavage” as she was better known for her glamorous celebrity than her acting talent.

Imogen was born on August 25 1942, in Woking, Surrey, England and rose to prominence in the late 1960s and early 1970s as an international B-movie starlet.
She appeared in many British TV adventure series of the 1960s such as The Saint, The Avengers and The Persuaders! In her first significant film role she played Tara in The Long Duel (1967). She gained further public notice as a dominant cave-girl in When Dinosaurs Ruled the Earth (1970) and played major roles in Carry On Loving and the cult horror film Incense for the Damned the same year. In Carry On Loving, the 1970 comedy about an inept dating agency run by Sid James and his long-suffering paramour Hattie Jacques, Imogen played Jenny Grubb, a frumpy sausage factory worker, Jenny Grubb who is matched with a distinctly underwhelmed Terry Scott. A later image revamp and new career as a fashion model makes Grubb a pouting bombshell and leaves Scott feeling decidedly amorous.
In 1973 she appeared in White Cargo alongside David Jason. To her frustration, her fame was brief and she never became a star in her own right. She died at age 38, in London on November 16 1980, after taking an overdose of sleeping pills.
